It hurts to love the A's sometimes

My Oakland A's are starting the "rebuilding" process and are basically having a fire sale to build up a very depleted farm system. The 2008 season is being given up for a chance to be contenders in 2010.
Now, I'm more than just a "laundry" fan. I become attached to the individual players and not just the jersey, know what I mean? And even though I know it is necessary and good for the team to make these trades, it hurts to lose my boys of summer that I have come to care about. First I lost my catcher, Jason Kendall (Cubs, but now Milwakee) before the end of last season. And now they have traded Marco "Mr. Clutch" Scutaro (Toronto), pitcher Dan Haren (Arizona), and Nick Swisher(Chicago White Sox). I'm afraid that Joe Blanton and Mark Ellis may be on the block as well.
I understand that these trades are a good thing, but I don't have to like it right now. I'm sure I will get into and enjoy watching all the young kids cutting their teeth in the big leagues and watching some turn into stars. But, I will miss my guys and will have to make sure to follow their careers on their new teams.
There is one silver lining to rebuilding this year. There was a very nasty rumor that the A's were looking to sign Barry Bonds to be their new DH in 2008 - highly doubtful now that the team doesn't plan to even get close to post season this year. Thank heaven for small favors, because I would have really missed the A's next season if they had signed him...I can not root for a team he plays on.
Only three more months till Spring Training!
