Caution - whining zone ahead

yeah, I know I'm whiney, I know that I'm being ridiculous, but today was even worse. Today I got trained on the phones, and remembered vividly that I DETEST being a receptionist. I hate the phones with the white hot passion of a thousand firey suns. Yeah, I don't like phones. And this is an antique system, and no one likes to answer their phones. Ugh, ugh, ugh. My first full day of work and I am not enjoying it, my body and brain are revolting (ha, some would say that can work in more than one definition). Plus, with reception work, you are at a desk all alone, everyone else is in a different part of the building and it is kinda lonely. And the only people you have to talk to are the people who are trying to get you to guess who they need on the phone.
But as I cried on the way home from work, I was thinking. You know, honestly, this is the first day of work where I had a full 8 hours worth of non-stop work to do in about a year. Seriously. The last 7 months of my old job, we had to really stretch to find enough work to do to try and look busy a couple days a week. It has been way too long since I've had to push to get things done. I've brought this on myself, no doubt about it. Not in a very good place right now.
But I suppose if I need to find a positive, I know for sure to tell the temp agency "no receptionist jobs, please". Yep, a big no brainer that one is...

You poor baby!! I too hated answering phones--it has stayed with me and to this day, I am the LAST one to answer a phone around here. ;-) Chin up...it has been a good "refresher" course in what you are wanting. AND you got to be a SAHM while Hannah was home from school. (Hey, maybe you should try for a school job?? Little late for this year, but you can always try!)

You are making me scared to work. I don't think I could handle an 8-hr day either. :( Especially one that expects you to work all 8 of those hours!

I hate talking on the phone with friends much less having to do it at work! This is why I don't beat up to much on my receptionist :)

Another phone hater here! It would really tick me off when I would come home from my receptionist job and answer my phone "Good morning, Jan speaking, how may I direct your call?" Thank goodness for call display and answering machines. Now I don't answer the phone unless I want too.

I don't think I could stand that either. Ughhh...

This is temporary though, right? So you can get out of it easily?
