Happy New Year all...I hope that 2009 will be a happy, healthy and wonderful year for everyone.
If you make resolutions, I hope you are successful in following them. I have in the past made some pretty specific and common resolutions. Some years I'm more successful than others but rarely am I am to keep a resolution going consistently. So I'm going to look at my resolutions a little differently this year.
One of the things that is popular in the scrapbooking community is to choose a word for the year, kind of like a mantra to remind yourself on what you would like to focus on in the upcoming year.
This year, I'm going to choose the word LEARN as my word of the year. And no, it doesn't mean that I plan to go back to school or even take any special classes. I'm just going to try and work on learing basic things to help me be a better person and a more contented person. Things to learn include, but are not limited to:
-how to find new ways to show the people I love how much I appreciate them
-how to eat healthier
-how to incorporate exercise in a way that won't feel like daily torture
-how to find a job that will be satisfying, emotionally and financially
-how to make time for scrapbooking and other hobbies I enjoy
-how to be happy with who I am, even while I try to improve things
-how to not take things so personally, and not be so defensive
-how to work my new phone and not be so tech stupid
-how to take care of my family, myself and my home
-how to let go of grudges and to forgive
-how to keep in better touch with my friends
-how to save for something I want and beat the instant gratification monster
As the year goes on, I'm sure there will be more to add, some things to change and hopefully, some lessons learned. Fingers crossed!

You can do it!!! :)
Great word. Hubby and I came up with a word this morning for us. More. More time with friends. More scrapping. More weight loss. We can do this! I will learn to have more time doing the things I want :)
You've got some great things on your list this year. My favorite is the "Instant Gratification Monster." So true - I need to kick that sucker to the curb, too.
Happy 2009!
Good luck that's a great list! And let me know on the exercise and grudge thing because I'm really bad at both of those! ;)
Happy New Year!
Love your word. I haven't come up with one for this year--laughing though, cuz my word for last year was "less" and for all the reasons Mrs. L has more.;-P
Your list is wonderful-I also have the IGM haunting me and is pretty close to the top of my list. It is the tech toys that do me in. Sigh.
Happy 2009 to you and yours--and may we both learn all we can this year!!
Yay you! I really should get around to making some concrete goals, but it's much easier to live in the land of "someday".
