Listening to Incubus this morning and heard the lyric "Give us time to shine, even diamonds start as coal." from their aptly named song Diamonds and Coal. And I started thinking...hmmm, that is a motto I should take to heart, as I have been feeling very "coal-ish" lately and depressing myself that I won't be able to make the changes I want. What a great way to keep motivated - if I work hard and keep at it, I may get to feel a bit more diamond like, that you can change if you give it some time.
And then I went and ruined it, LOL. What if I'm one of those coal lumps that gets dug up by a black lunged miner and tossed into some place where I get be used as fuel and that's it...finished, no diamond in my future, just fire...no time to be stressed and pressured into a beautiful diamond.
Ok, maybe there are no Life Lessons in lyrics - or maybe that IS the lesson. hmmm.
