On our way to Cody

Today was a travel day for the most part, a four hour drive to Cody with lots of fun detours along the way. Todd plans the best vacations ever, seriously.
We hung out in the morning in Jackson Hole, walking around and shopping. For the price of a house in Jackson, you could instead have this lovely set of sculptures, Hannah was tempted...

We hit Mud Volcano in Yellowstone along the way, gads I still can smell the sulfur in my hair. Hannah called it Smellytopia.

there were very cool hot springs and very stinky mud pits, it was so interesting to see the cool lake, and beautiful greenery right next to the desolate thermal areas.

But the best part of the day was going through Hayden Valley - we got in a Bison-jam!

And here is a picture that was not zoomed at all, I could have reached out my window and touched him as we creeped by him

I took a bunch of bison shots, even took some wide shots like this one, although the close ups were just thrilling

here is my favorite bison shot so far, he was just hanging out by the side of the road, checking things out very casually.

We also stopped at the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, and it was pretty incredible.

And if you were to ask Hannah what her favorite part of this site was? It wasn't the sweeping views of the canyon, no, it was this little guy

We got a bit of rain on the last bit of the way to Cody, and it was tricky to try and get the shot through the open window getting pelted with raindrops, but I think it was worth it

Gorgeous!!! I love Yellowstone, spent many a summer vacation there as a kid. I really need to take my kids, the last time we were there Brooke was 2 and Grant was 8 months.

Smellytopia! lol, yeah, it is that! Did you get to Minerva Terrace?

Are you camping? Where did you stay?

Oh, yeah. The smell. Never forget that wonderful smell. LOVE the shots of the Bison. Showed them to Ben and Allie--Ben, being a guy, likes the shot of the traffic being held up, and Allie prefers the shot of them all in the field. LOL LOVE the rainbow--agree it was worth getting wet for. Gotta agree, kudos to Todd, your family always has wonderful vacations!

Awesome photos! And so close to the Bison? I agree with Hannah, Smellytopia with those sulfur pools.
